The Gospel music industry, and the Ghanaian music industry as a whole has seen some major improvements.
Over the years, we have had the likes of The late Danny Nettey (The legend; may his soul continue to rest in peace), The Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Joe Beecham, Tagoe Sisters, and Jane and Bernice, just to mention a few. Their style of music, so spirit filled, had major influences on our present day gospel musicians. Joseph Oscar Mettle was begotten from these influences.
Formerly with The Soul Winners, Joe Mettle, after gaining some if not not all experiences, begun the Joe Mettle Ministries. The team leader, with his able team mates, have well structured projects they embark on every year. One of such is ‘THE ENCOUNTER’, another is ‘Love Gift’, an outreach organized every Christmas, not forgetting other tours and ministrations he graces in Canada and other parts of the world.
The Ghanaian based, multiple award winning musician, has gained much prominent nominations. Last year was the nomination of the “best Gospel Artiste of the Year”. After pulling up a crowd shaking ministration also at last year’s VGMA, we were all in anticipation that he’d win the award for the category. Unfortunately, he didn’t.
We have heard quiet a number of songs from Joe but the release of “Onwanwani” took most Ghanaians aback, by the correct composition and arrangements of the song. The song gained much hype in no time. One funny thing I observed though, was that, anytime I took to the streets of Accra, every billboard of a Christian event had Joe mettle on the bill.
The “Onwanwani” hit singer has also been recognized by the Mi Rankings to be part of the top 5 most influential Ghanaian artistes in 2016. He placed 3rd, with Shatter Wale heading the rank at 1st. In 2nd position was Sarkodie, 4th and 5th places were Stonebwoy and EL respectively.
He also recently won the Gospel Artist honor at the Ghana Music Honors last Saturday.
Wow! I almost forgot the thrilling performance he put up at The Gospel Goes Classic in South Africa. He shared stage with Multiple Grammy award winner Donnie McClurkin and Multiple award winners Ntokozo Mbambo and Mahalia Buchanan and the performance was breathtaking.
Yet again, he has been nominated for The overall Artiste of the Year in this Year’s VGMA. Other nominations include; Best male vocalist, Song writer of the year and Gospel Artiste of the year.
Upon realizing all these blessings and prestige, Joe Mettle, shared a short testimony about his life on Facebook a couple of days ago. We would assert from his statements that, the Gospel Musician owes all thanks to God alone.
Yes! We have all seen this young man exhibit some hard work and tenacity, devotion and commitments to what he does best. Its a delight to see Joe Mettle chock major successes over the years. I wish him the very best in the awards to come.
Now the interesting part for this is, if you agree with me and really believe Joe deserves the “Artiste Of The Year” award, then simply text A4 to 1767 as many times as possible and together lets us STAND for what we believe in!
