Lecrae's Rap Album makes history as it becomes No. 1 on the Billboard Chart this week

Well, this is an anomaly. For only the fifth time in Billboard history, a Christian album is sitting at the top of the charts this week.
Lecrae’s rap album, fittingly titled “Anomaly, has soared to the top of this week’s album chart. His seventh studio effort claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, a rare feat as only a handful of Christian albums have ever achieved this top ranking.
Lecrae’s been quietly building a hip-hop empire for the past few years, recording music where the faith is forceful instead of forced, and the beats are compelling instead of corny.
The 34-year-old rapper sold 88,000 copies of Anomaly in its first week out, Nielsen Sound Scan tabulated. Anomaly dethrones last week’s chart-topper — Maroon 5’sV— which bowed out in its second week with 80,000 copies sold.
Billboard notes Anomaly is only the fifth album from the Christian Albums chart genre to secure the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. If you haven’t heard Anomaly yet, you’re missing out on one of the better hip-hop albums to be released this year. Luckily for you, the whole thing is on Spotify. Check it out here.
“The system didn’t plan for this,” Lecrae tweeted on Wednesday as a message to the music industry. Also as a thank-you and gift to his fans, Lecrae linked to this new song (below):
