JaySmoke wins Best Gospel DJ at Ghana DJ Awards 2017

Urban Gospel DJ, JaySmoke, was last Saturday adjudged the Best Gospel DJ of the year in the Ghana DJ Awards 2017 edition.
After being nominated for the first time in this awards scheme, Justine Agyei Mensah popularly know as JaySmoke could surely not hide his excitement when he was crowned the Best Gospel DJ at the ceremony.

“Unfortunately I wasn’t there. I was at church going about my Father’s business but I can say, I was there in the spirit until Monday morning when I was contacted by DJ Xpilph that he had my award. I asked what award, and he said I had won the Best Gospel DJ Award. I was elated, like ohhh my gosh! For real? It was a good feeling despite me being nominated for two categories; only one was left to the fans to vote which was the Gospel DJ category… You guys are also part of the success story…truly appreciated” JaySmoke said in an interview with GospelGh

He went on to encourage other Gospel DJs to support Urban Gospel saying “Urban Gospel is the future, and they need to support it more”.
The 2017 edition of the Rush Ghana DJ Awards was held at the Silver Star Tower Airport City and saw a huge turn out of showbiz personalities.
For those who don’t JaySmoke, well he has been at the very beginning of urban gospel in Ghana. He has pushed it far and wide and has been the pillar behind it. From starting the very first urban gospel radio show, to holding the biggest urban gospel concert in the country, JaySmoke is the go to person when it comes to urban gospel in Ghana.
He expressed the love of his work saying “award or not, we are still putting in work! I’ve been doing this for the past 10years and this is my first national award though i was honored at last year’s Holy Pop Music Awards.”
Our interview with Jay took a look at his plans for the year and this is what he had to say:

This year, I have dropped a few singles from my upcoming project Chopped Sermon Volume 1. I dropped SOTK4 (working on a video shoot) also I have something cooking with some of the young cats with great potentials so the work continues.
I’m also working on my show on TV, trying to get more coverage and hopefully some international collaboration too.

We ended with Jay’s mouth full of thanksgiving, saying

“I just want to thank everybody who has been there from day one.
