Cwesi recounts as a testimony giving his life to Christ as a teenager after an empty life without Jesus in his early teens and consequently being drawn to the things of God particularly church music thereafter. This lead to over a decade of service, learning and preparation in his local church (Tema Community 8 Lighthouse Chapel Church, Ghana) as a worship leader and music director before making a ministry debut as a solo artiste in 2009 with his ‘Blessed Are They’ album. The album had inspiring hit songs such as ‘Look into Your Eyes’, ‘Okurayen’, title track ‘Blessed Are They’, among others. According to Cwesi, ‘Blessed Are They’ was a major learning experience for him and a product of his life experiences, young ministry and relationship with God, foreshowing a great trail in ministry that beckoned him.
Work on his second album – “Mercy Project” – begun in 2010 with the release of the Mercy song in April that year. This also gave birth to the Cwesi Oteng Ministries as well as Flo Riva Inc. The Mercy Project is a music evangelism project via an album and concerts on God’s mercy and the social project to reach out to the needy in society.
After a year of meditation on God’s work of mercy in the Bible, Cwesi felt inspired and led to spread the message of God’s mercy which comes in the form of his love, salvation, goodness forgiveness and blessings. The album decodes all God thought him in the year about Mercy.
Finally in 2012, he released the Mercy Project Album which ended up launching Cwesi into the limelight.

As a brand celebrated for its uncompromising stand on creative and quality inspiring productions, Cwesi Oteng though young on the mainstream scene has blessed masses with his electrifying live ministrations and inspiring compositions, taken the gospel onto many platforms hitherto accepted no gospel music, gained desirable recognitions and won high profile awards. His award-winning Mercy Project album, from which hit songs such as ‘Mercy (But for Your Mercy)’, ‘God Dey Bless Me’, ‘Kabiyesi’ and ‘Okurayen’ is inspiring nations, has received rave reviews for its avant-garde contribution and impact on the gospel and inspirational music scene in Ghana, all over Africa and beyond.
Cwesi Oteng’s ministry and music reflects his passion for the youth, influences and Ghanaian or African background. However, it is the idea to do away with boundaries relating to race, culture, geographic associations and music genres that has urged Cwesi to develop a music style to appeal to diverse audience- a contemporary or urban live fusion sound conceptualized on a prominent or subtle touch of cross-cultural African rhythms and dynamic vocals that are laced with inspiring messages very relevant to current times and appealing to all ages, especially the youth.
Recently signed onto the youthful music label, BBnZ Live, Cwesi supported by his multi-talented music team and band, Flo’Riva Incorporated, is warming up to another project chapter of ministry with his Mercy Project era drawing to an end. Already, two new singles- ‘I Win’ and ‘Count Your Blessings’- released this year are shaping the new phase as his BBnZ Live partnership is expected to take his music and inspirational influence on the youth to a wider and more diverse audience.
“….my music or message in whatever creative form carries a central focus on Christ and the transformation he brings on board and the gratifying purpose he gives to all who know and love him. This is pretty much the foundation of what I am about- to make Christ known, celebrated and lived,”- Cwesi Oteng.
