Churches should help raise gospel musicians – Cwesi Oteng

Musician, Cwesi Oteng says churches should play an instrumental role by helping raise gospel musicians.
He believes that gospel music works better if churches take a lead role in helping shape the artistes.
Speaking on the Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM with Doreen Andoh Friday, the ‘God Dey Bless Me’ hit singer noted that artistes struggle on their own to become successful.
He said: “I’ve always believed that gospel music works better when the church begins to raise the artistes from the church, the choir begins to see themselves as such and begins to step up as such.”
He cited TD Jakes and the Potter’s House Mass Choir and Sinach who is church raised.
“When it’s like that, it’s the safest and the best…” the vision of churches has not been like that, the musician observed and added that most artistes had to struggle on their own to make it.
