General Overseer of the Christian Action Faith Chapel, Arch Bishop Nicholas Duncan Williams has cautioned Christians to be measured in their criticisms of Pastor Mensah Otabil over his alleged involvement in the collapse of Capital Bank.
Pastor Otabil who served as the Chairman of the Board of the defunct Capital Bank and his management team have been accused of using monies given them by the Bank of Ghana to salvage the then-struggling bank to open new businesses which also failed.
He’s been trolled on social media for what many say is his dereliction of duty and his supervision of the mismanagement of the bank after he was indicted in a leaked report compiled by the Bank of Ghana on the collapse of Capital Bank.
But he recently broke his silence for the first time a year after the collapse of the financial institution, explaining that he had a “non-executive role”.
“My position was a non-executive role. I was therefore not involved in the day-to-day management and operations of the Bank”.
Addressing members of his church last week, Arch Bishop Duncan Williams urged Christians not to open their mouths too wide talking about things they may have no understanding of.
“The situation with Dr Mensah Otabil, I want to caution every Christian to shut your mouth. Number two, the Bible says judge not and you may not be judged. So shut your mouths, stop talking about things you don’t understand. Somebody asked me what do you think and I said I don’t think anything, I don’t understand, I don’t know the details so let the authorities handle the situation. Don’t talk too much Christians, you talk too much. Shut your mouth…tell somebody to shut your big mouth.”
“Now, I’m saying that to Christians, as for unbelievers and the heathens they have the right to talk, their day will come. But for us Christians, we are under God’s Constitution.”
